Role Sets

A Role Set is one or more Responsibility Sets that are assigned to a task or subtask for one or more Units. You can use Role Sets to define the default responsibilities of users for every task in a project created from a project template.

The Role Sets section of the Admin page allows you to assign roles to Schedule Templates by the Unit hierarchy structure. This lets you use one Schedule Template for a variety of Role and Hierarchy combinations.

Add a Role Set:

  1. Navigate to the Admin > Schedule Template page and select a project template. The schedule template appears.

  2. Click the Role Sets tab. The template's tasks and default role sets appear.

  3. Click Add New Role Set. The list of available roles appears and a new Role Set column is appended to the right of the last role set.

  4. Type a name for the Role Set in the text box.

  5. Click the menu icon and then click Assign Units. The Assign Units dialog box appears.

  6. Select the Units that you want this Role Set to affect and then click Apply. The number of Units shown for the Role Set updates.

    To change the selected units, click the Units text.

  7. Select the cells for the subtasks to which you want to assign the same roles.

  8. Select the appropriate roles from the Roles List and then click Add, The role are added to the selected tasks.

    To remove a role, click the X next to the role name.

  9. When you are finished changing the Role Set, click the menu icon and then click Save Role Set. A confirmation dialog box appears.

  10. Click OK.

Edit a Role Set:

  1. Navigate to the Admin > Schedule Template page and select a project template. The schedule template appears.

  2. Click the Role Sets tab. The template's tasks and default role sets appear.

  3. Click Edit Role Sets. The list of available roles appears and the role sets are editable.

  4. To change the name of the Role Set, type a name in the text box.

  5. Change the Units:

    1. Click the menu icon and then click Assign Units.

      The Assign Units dialog box appears. You may also hide, clone, or delete a Role Set with the commands on this menu.

    2. Select the Units that you want this Role Set to affect and then click Apply. The number of Units shown for the Role Set updates.

  6. Change roles:

    1. Select the cells that you want to change.

    2. Select the appropriate roles from the Roles List and then click Add, The role are added to the selected tasks.

    3. To remove a role, click the X next to the role name.

  7. When you are finished changing the Role Set, click the menu icon and then click Save Role Set. A confirmation dialog box appears.

  8. Click OK.
